It shouldn’t be surprising that the Ford Expedition Timberline is a big deal. It takes a massive three-row SUV and adds crucial off-roading upgrades to provide an incredibly capable beast. However, you might not know a few of the crucial benefits the 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline has to offer.

Yes, if you want a potent off-roading vehicle for the entire family to enjoy, then the 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline is a great option to consider. But it isn’t cheap. The Expedition Timberline starts at $72,000 and maxes out around $80,000.

However, according to Edmunds, it can confidently battle rivals as one well-rounded machine. For example, it provides luxury comfort. The large seats are incredibly supportive for long drives, and grown adults can even feel comfortable enough to take naps in the second row.

The upgraded suspension provides a smooth ride over the pavement and absorbs impacts well. Plus, the spacious interior is peacefully quiet, and the Expedition has relaxed manners for a low-effort experience.

Thanks to advanced safety tech, like lane-centering assist and blind-spot warning, the Expedition Timberline is easy to maneuver in tight areas.

The 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline isn’t short on muscle. It has a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It’s only 10 ponies shy of the Ford F-150 Raptor.

It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds and has a smooth, peppy acceleration. But it can only tow up to 6,000 lbs. The 2023 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro can tow up to 9,020 lbs, making it better for towing campers and trailers.

The Timberline has beefy upgrades for off-roading, such as 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires and skid plates from the Raptor to protect its undercarriage. It has a 10.6-inch ground clearance to climb over obstacles.

Plus, it has a 28.5-degree approach angle, a 23.7-degree break-over angle, and a departure angle of 21.9 degrees. The two-speed transfer case and electronically locking rear differential enhance its capabilities as well.

The Trail Turn Assist feature brakes the inside rear wheel to help pivot around tight turns. Plus, large screens and multiple camera angles help avoid obstacles too.

The 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline has plenty of tech and space to keep the whole family happy. It can seat up to eight passengers, and the third row has enough room for adults to sit comfortably.

You can access up to 20.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat with up to 104.6 cubes total. There are plenty of storage trays and bins for storing personal items. Plus, the automatic tailgate and power-folding third-row seats make storing items convenient.

The 15.5-inch vertically oriented infotainment screen is vibrant and attractive. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and you can upgrade to the 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen system. Also, there is an available rear seat entertainment system.

Don’t ignore the Ford Expedition Timberline if you’re looking for a comfortable and capable off-roading vehicle for the entire family to enjoy. It should be making the Chevy Tahoe Z71 and Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro nervous.
