As usual, the Astros celebrated Mother’s Day by having some of the players’ moms throw out a ceremonial first pitch to their sons before Sunday’s 5-0 win over the Tigers.
The moms of Jose Altuve, Michael Brantley, Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel, Martin Maldonado and Jeremy Peña – all wearing their sons’ jersey – stood just past the home plate dirt and delivered strikes – OK, they weren’t ALL strikes – to their sons.

Jackie Bregman said she hadn't thrown a real baseball to Alex in a long time.
"When he was about 10 years old was the last time I threw him a real baseball because we were playing in the little cul-de-sac in front of our house and I pitched him a real baseball and he hit it straight back at my sternum and he hit me in the chest and I said, ‘Mommy can’t play with real baseballs with you anymore," Jackie told Fox 26's Mark Berman before the game.
The Astros, who have Monday off before opening a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins, went on to win their seventh straight game.
